Youth Civil Rights Leadership Summer Camp: Travel, Public Speaking & Civic Engagement

The AADM Youth Civil Rights Leadership Summer Camp is a transformative, hands-on summer experience designed to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to understand history, speak up for justice, and build positive friendships.

This immersive program blends civil rights education, public speaking training, leadership development, and experiential travel to historic sites connected to the struggle for equality and human rights. Students don’t just learn history—they experience it, reflect on it, and connect it to today’s social justice issues.

Throughout the program, participants engage in interactive workshops focused on public speaking, storytelling, advocacy, and youth leadership, learning how to clearly express their ideas, organize their thoughts, and confidently share their voice in classrooms, communities, and public spaces.

Field experiences and travel opportunities bring civil rights lessons to life, helping students deepen their understanding of justice movements, civic responsibility, and the power of collective action. Each experience is paired with guided reflection, group dialogue, and leadership activities that build critical thinking and empathy.

By the end of the institute, students will leave with:

  • Strengthened public speaking and communication skills

  • A deeper understanding of civil rights history and current justice issues

  • Increased confidence in leadership and self-expression

  • A network of peers committed to positive change

Ages 13–16 Welcome. This program is designed for students who are ready to grow as leaders, find their voice, and understand how history connects to their role in shaping the future.

The Civil Rights Leadership Summer Program is more than a camp—it is a leadership journey.
