Through advocating for fair policies, increasing transparency, educating the community, and holding institutions accountable, we strive to create a more just and equitable society for all.

  • Policy Advocacy: Promote and support reforms that eliminate discriminatory practices, reduce incarceration rates, and ensure fairness in law enforcement and judicial proceedings.

  • Community Engagement: Empower local communities through education, workshops, and public forums to advocate for their rights and hold officials accountable.

  • Data & Research: Collect and analyze data on policing, sentencing disparities, and community impacts to inform policy recommendations and advocacy strategies.

  • Providing Know Your Rights training and news to keep the community informed and up to date on policy changes and more.

Key Initiatives:

  • Hosting town halls and policy discussions to engage with elected officials and law enforcement.

  • Supporting community-led campaigns to demand justice in cases of discrimination and police misconduct

  • Collaborating with legal experts to propose legislative reforms at local and state levels.

  • Annual report: Our team conducts thorough research and tracks police complaints to compile detailed annual reports on policing in Athens, Georgia. These reports provide transparency, highlight areas for reform, and serve as a critical tool for advocating justice and fostering community trust in law enforcement.

Impact:

The Justice and Accountability Committee serves as a crucial force in ensuring that marginalized communities have a voice and a pathway to justice. Through advocacy, education, and strategic action, JAC helps to create lasting changes.

We welcome passionate individuals who are committed to justice reform, community organizing, and holding institutions accountable.

Women’s Wellness and Social Justice

About the Program

Social justice work is a powerful driver of change, but it often comes with emotional, physical, and mental challenges that can make sustaining long-term advocacy difficult. Recognizing this, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) Women’s Wellness and Justice Group was created to prioritize women’s holistic well-being while equipping them with tools to lead, advocate, and learn how to protect their rights.

Target Audience

  • Women  in advocacy, education, nonprofit, or business who want to grow in leadership while prioritizing wellness

  • Women navigating burnout or seeking balance between activism/work and self-care

  • Grassroots/community organizers who want to learn their rights and how to sustain long-term movements

  • Women directly impacted by discrimination or inequities who want tools to advocate for themselves and their communities

Age Range

  • Primary Focus: 25+ years old

    • Young professionals and early-to-mid-career women exploring leadership roles, advocacy, and balancing personal wellness.

  • Mindset/Values: Socially conscious, community-driven, seeking both empowerment and restoration.

Launched in honor of Debra Brenner’s legacy, this initiative continues her fight for equity, compassion, and justice. We invite you to join a community of women committed to wellness, empowerment, and collective action.

Applications are now open for 2026. This one-of-a-kind program that unites justice, rights education, leadership, and wellness into a powerful experience.
