Do you need help after an interaction with police or while in jail?
If you believe your rights or the rights of a loved one were violated and you're unsure where to turn, we're here to help. Our team can provide information, resources, and guidance to help you understand your options and navigate the next steps. We also host bi-monthly Community Defense Clinics where community members can receive education, ask questions, and connect with available resources.
You don't have to navigate the criminal legal system alone. AADM provides information, support, referrals, and advocacy to help individuals and families understand their rights and take the next steps.
How We Can Help
Police & Law Enforcement Concerns
We support individuals and families dealing with police misconduct, excessive force, unlawful treatment, harassment, or other concerns involving law enforcement. We help document incidents, explain complaint options, connect people with resources, and advocate for accountability and fair treatment.
Jail & Incarceration Advocacy
We assist individuals and families with concerns related to jail conditions, treatment while incarcerated, access to basic needs, and other civil rights issues. We provide guidance, help document concerns, connect families with resources, and advocate for humane and safe conditions.
Discrimination & Civil Rights Support
If you believe you have experienced discrimination in housing, employment, public accommodations, government services, education, or other settings, AADM can help you understand your options. We assist with documenting incidents, identifying complaint processes, and connecting individuals with appropriate agencies and resources.
Justice Help Line
Our Justice Help Line provides individuals and families with information, guidance, and referrals related to police encounters, incarceration, discrimination, probation, reentry, and civil rights concerns. We help callers identify possible next steps and connect with community or legal resources when appropriate.
Complaint & Incident Assistance
We help individuals organize and document incidents involving discrimination, police misconduct, jail conditions, or other civil rights concerns. We can explain available complaint processes and help identify the appropriate agency, organization, or resource for additional assistance.
Know Your Rights Education
We provide community education about civil rights, police encounters, incarceration, discrimination, probation, and the justice system so individuals and families are better prepared to recognize concerns, protect their rights, and make informed decisions.
