2026 Nominations Form
Each year, the AADM recognizes our collaborators and community members who are driving positive change and strengthening our community through action and advocacy. Winners of these awards are people working in the Athens community who have made an outstanding impact. Nominate someone to receive a Social Justice Award!
Nominations run from December 15 through January 15. Only one honoree will be chosen per category.
Award Categories:
Advocacy & Justice Award – Recognizes individuals driving systemic change through advocacy, policy work, or activism that advances equity and justice around housing, youth, or the criminal justice system.
Community Leadership Award – Honors leaders fostering inclusion, empowerment, and transformative impact in the Athens community.
Marissa Joyner Youth Leadership Award – Celebrates youth under 25 making extraordinary contributions to social justice and community change.
Social Action Award – For individuals or groups taking bold, tangible steps to address social inequities.
Public Service Award – Highlights outstanding contributions in government, nonprofits, or civic initiatives that serve the public good.
Civic Engagement Award – Recognizes active participation in democratic processes, community organizing, and initiatives that strengthen local governance.
Economic Justice Award – Honors efforts to advance financial equity, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity for marginalized communities.
People’s Choice Award – A community-voted award celebrating an individual or organization making a visible, positive impact.
Youth Mentor & Leadership Award – Recognizes mentors shaping the next generation of leaders through guidance, inspiration, and empowerment.
Educators for Change Award – Celebrates educators transforming learning, promoting equity, and cultivating social consciousness in students.
