The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (“AADM”) advocates for racial and social justice and strives to combat discrimination through education and activism. We offer various workshops, programs, and resources designed to help citizens protect their civil and human rights.
In January 2016, Mokah-Jasmine Johnson and husband Knowa D. Johnson launched the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement in an effort to combat repeated allegations of discrimination by bars and business owners in downtown Athens. Since that time, they have worked tirelessly to build an effective movement.
Mission
The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement’s mission is to encourage fair treatment of people of all races, bring awareness to inequities, and advocate against systematic practices used to repress or cause harm to particular groups or individuals. AADM strives to break the cycle of systemic discrimination in schools, the criminal justice system, or the business environment with a focus on racial and social issues. To achieve this mission, AADM develops sustainable programs, provides resources, and runs workshops and trainings that foster positive social change!
Vision
Founders of the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement envision a world where all races are treated equally, enjoy resources, and receive equitable opportunities. We hope to make a positive impact on humanity and break racial barriers that can harm or limit one’s potential. We aim to create a more inclusive environment for all so we can live in a world where everyone is treated with dignity and racial and cultural differences are not just tolerated, but celebrated.
