AADM Hosts Weekly “Art for Justice” Classes

Free art classes for people of all ages and experience levels!

Athens, GA. – For the past couple of months, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) has hosted Art for Justice classes every Saturday from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the AADM Justice Center. Participants are introduced to the practice of artistic creativity as a means of healing and expression in response to injustice.

The AADM provides art supplies, including paint, canvases, sketch pads, and aprons. AADM team member Arie Ritten leads the sessions, providing support to each participant as needed. Participants are encouraged to engage in guided discussion about relevant racial and social justice issues.

Although these sessions come at no cost, participants are encouraged to donate to the AADM Justice Center and Bookstore, which sells justice-related literature, art, and other merchandise. Proceeds go towards AADM’s services and programs. The AADM Justice Center and Bookstore is located in the Georgia Square Mall on the first floor across from Belk’s and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00pm-5:00pm unless stated otherwise.
