Cultural, Diversity, and Inclusion Training

Athens, Ga-Since 2016, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement has vigorously worked towards combating discrimination and advocating for racial and social justice throughout Athens-Clarke County. To encourage business owners to stand in solidarity against discrimination, AADM launched the United Against Discrimination sticker campaign and established a Civil Rights Advocates Committee in our first year. To date, over 60 businesses proudly display the sticker on their window.

AADM now offers Cultural, Diversity, and Inclusion workplace training and facilitation. These sessions are geared to advance diversity, inclusion, and cultural intelligence within the workplace: specifically to reduce racial tension, improve race relations; and help business owners and staff create a more welcoming environment for all employees and customers.

This training session will be lead by Mokah-Jasmine Johnson, a prominent activist and Master Educator, along with other experienced professionals. The training will draw from real life experiences and use hands-on activities to address race-related issues. This workplace training is beneficial for business owners and organizational members who desire a more welcoming and inclusive environment and who are interested in addressing tough issues surrounding race and culture. It incorporates group discussions and activities and includes opportunities to explore personal and structural biases.

Join us Saturday, September 8th, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Athens Clarke County Library, Athens, Georgia 30606.

Training session topics include:

  • Diversity, inclusion, and cultural intelligence
  • The brief history of systemic racism and white privilege
  • Unconscious bias in the workplace
  • Workforce diversity policies: creating a plan of action
  • Cultural competence: How to accept differences among and between employees
  • Microaggressions: How is your business “coming off” to others?
  • How to create a more welcoming environment to benefit customers and employees
