Athens Run for Maud – Walk for Justice

On Saturday, February 24th, 2024, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) will host the Athens Run for Maud – Walk for Justice event to honor and celebrate the life of Ahmaud Arbery. 

Since 2020, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) has organized an annual event to honor and celebrate the life of Ahmaud Arbery. This year we will host an official race, the  Athens Run for Maud 2.23 mile run (participants can also walk) on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. Shortly after, at the AADM Bookstore (inside GA Square Mall) we will also host an information session with refreshments helping to raise awareness on citizen arrest and hate crime legislation. 

What to expect on the Day of the event? 

8:00am-9:30am Run/Walk for Ahmaud (approx. 30 min-1hr). Participants check-in table-in front of Georgia Square Mall. 

10:00am-11:00am Honoring Ahmaud & Know Your Rights Information Session

TIMING & RESULTS

The winner will receive a plaque and be featured on the AADM website. Results are available the next day after the event. This is a friendly competition for a good cause.

Individuals and teams are welcome to register using the form below. The registration cost is pay-what-you-can. Proceeds will benefit The Ahmaud Arbery Foundation, which supports mental health resources for Black boys, and the AADM End School To Prison Pipeline program. The AADM is not in charge of creating any teams. Participants must coordinate with others they would like to participate with on race day.
