MARCH FOR OUR LIVES: Athens College and High School students will  RALLY TO END GUN VIOLENCE ON MARCH 24. The sibling March in Athens, Ga Is among Hundreds of Local Marches Following the Shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The local march is being organized by UGA Students-Keep the G Gun Free, Mom Demands Action, and Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement providing community support & diversity assistance.

On Saturday, March 24, community members from Athens, Georgia will gather for a “sibling march” at UGA Arch 1pm as part of the March for Our Lives movement. The march is one of hundreds happening around the country planned by students and survivors of gun violence in communities big and small, in all 50 states. The national day of action will focus on calling for lawmakers to make students’ lives and safety a priority and to pass common-sense gun safety legislation.

AADM supports #neveragain and will also take ten minority and African-American students ages (13-18) to Washington DC to participate in March For Our Lives. As an educator, activist, and mother, “this issue is important to me because I lost my stepson to gun violence and too many lives have been taken due to these types of senseless shootings,” said Mokah-Jasmine Johnson president of Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement.”

AADM  look forward to this march because it is a youth-led movement and we encourage community leaders from Athens and surrounding areas to rally with other concerned residents for a sibling march as part of the March for Our Lives movement. Interested participants can travel to DC or attend locally by joining community leaders and students March 24, 1 pm at UGA Arch. Onsite voter registration and information on upcoming elections will be provided by HeadCount. Members of Indivisible District 10 and 100+ Days Athens will help attendees write postcards to their legislators advocating for gun safety.
